Summer Working (cool stuff for classroom)

I have been busy, busy, busy!! I have been making, creating, printing, laminating, and cutting.  Here is some of things that I have been up too! Tell me what you think.  Hope you like it.  I am excited to use them in my room this year!!

I took a corn and green beans can and cleaned it after I cooked supper and decided to make me nice pencil holders for the classroom.  I first made one for unsharpened pencils and thought it was so cute that I had to make one for my group table. So I added my (new) name to it!
1. Get a can.
2. Scrape booking paper: Cute and glue/tape around the can
3. Ribbon: Tie ribbon around the can. I also taped it down so that it wouldn't slide.
4. Make a Label and glue to the front.

I kept seeing all these cute theme banners that everyone was making for this classroom and it made me want to make one with animal prints. I thought it turned out very nicely. Now, I just have to find a place to put it in my classroom.
1. Cut paper into triangles (The size you desire) I free handed the first triangle and then traced it out for the rest of them.
2. Ribbon: Glue the ribbon on top of the triangle pieces.
3. Make sure that you leave extra ribbon on both sides so that you can tie it up.

CUTE Labels I found from a blog (I am sorry I can't remember who, let me know if it was you so I can give you credit)  I will be using this year for my sorting baskets in the room.  They will replace my old ones from last year.  These are going to match the theme of my room even better. It gets better every year!

Math Centers by Miss. Kindergarten that I have been printing, laminating, and cutting apart for the upcoming school year. I love them so far!

Popsicle Math: Students have to count the dots on the bottom of the popsicle and find the number to match to make the complete popsicle.
Decompose/compose: Students have to count the ten sticks/ones to figure out how much is shown in the bucket.  They will place the matching shovel with the number on the bucket.
Beach Ball Fun: Teen Number Practice.  Students will have to add a number to 10 and then find the correct beach ball with that number.

Some Cute Stuff I found that I am using in the classroom this year!

BOOKMARKS (can not remember who I got these from):
I am going to give every child one of these bookmarks for their reading tubs and a couple in the reading center.
Aren't these the cutest alphabet letter cards.  They are all jungled out and match the theme :) I wish I could remember who's blog I got this off of to give them credit. It was a freebie and they are so cute!

I can not wait to start making somemore things for the classroom.  I am in the process of making a parent common core packet. (so they know what is excepted of their child throughout the year)

REMEMBER.....
Have a very FANTASTIC, AMAZING, TOTALLY TERRIFIC DAY!!

New Stuff....

What a busy day... I have been working all day long at Zales.  As soon as I got home I was not feeling too well.  I sat down on the couch and started to relax.  I decided to create some covers for my notebooks at school and a sign in sheet and transportation sheet for the beginning of the year.  I have uploaded these to my TPT store. Go check them out.

What is included:
Open House/any meeting sign in sheet
Transportation Sheet

Teacher Binder Dividers:

Lesson Plan Cover
Parent Communication Log Cover
Student Information Cover
Assessment Cover
Common Core Standards Cover

If you need it customized just let me know.

After I made those, I decided to make something I saw on Pinterest :) I took a picture frame and put notebook paper in the inside and added ribbon.  You can use the outside glass as a dry erase board to keep reminders/to do's on or to check students understanding. I am so excited to be using them this year :)

What I have been doing this summer? Linky Party!

Vicky, over at Traditions, Laughter and Happily Ever After is having a great little linky all about what we have been up to this summer. Summer should be time to yourself away from school work and just RELAX. As teachers, we know that NEVER happens.  We always have something that we are working on to get ready for the upcoming year.

So what have I been up to???

Well, I have gotten married to the love of my life this summer. (most of you know already from my previous post) That has been one of the most exciting and most memorable thing that has happen to me.

My  husband and I went on a wonderful two week vacation/honeymoon to Casey Keys, Florida.  We loved being on a beach with hardly anybody else in sight.  It was very peaceful and quiet.  I was able to sit back and relax for a while.  But if you ask my husband by the second week I was getting very antsy and wanting something to do. I am the type of person that always has to be doing something. (I never can sit down and do nothing)

While we were both in Florida we went to Disney World.  It was my very FIRST time going there.  I was super excited.  I would say that my favorite thing was seeing the castle and riding space mountain!

I also work another job during the summer and well doing the school year.  I work at Zales the Diamond Store.  I have been working there for almost 5 years now.  I work there doing the school year on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday... and well doing the summer I am there every day.  The only day  I have off is my birthday this month.  SO I am super busy working this summer. (40 hours a week)

I have been working on getting things ready for the upcoming school year too.  I have been creating a lot of new math activities and getting new labels for the classroom ready.  I have had to make a lot of new things for notebooks and binders because I am no longer going to be Ms. Skipper this coming year.  I will be known as Mrs. Craven, so I have to get everything changed to my new name.

So be sure to head on over to Vicky's blog and link up!! Summer is half way over:(.....and I'm sure you've been up to something!!

I-Pad Apps You Can Use in The Classroom!

My Husband bought me an I-Pad 3 for my wedding present and can I say I have been loving it! I have found so many educational apps for school.  I wish that I could have an ipad for every child to use. My class would be kicking it with technology! I listed some apps that you could use in the classroom by subjects below. :)

Have a BLESSED day!!

Kindergarten-1st Grade I-Pad Apps:

  Teaching Math Skills with Technology:

Common Core Standards K.OA.2 Add and Subtract within 10

You can use a great free app- Find Sums by Math Tappers Their description from the iTunes store "MathTappers: Find Sums is a simple game designed to help learners to make sense of addition (and subtraction as a related operation), and then to support them in developing accuracy and improving their speed."

The students used a ten frame and selected numbers that added up to ten. The game tracks accuracy and speed, so the children kept playing to try to get 100% accuracy and fast.  They can also add up to 20, and 100 using the apples.

Update... and GREAT NEWS

Hi my wonderful friends! So, I have a lot to update everyone on! First of all, I AM MARRIED :) My new husband Brad and I got married on June 22 (couple weeks ago) Thank you to everything that gave us their congratulations.  We greatly appreciated it! We went to Casey Keys, Florida for our honeymoon for two weeks. It was absolutely wonderful to have a place on the beach.  I did not want to leave. (who ever does) Anyways, we are back to the house in NC and we are loving every minute of married life!!

BUT to the OTHER good news..........My husband got a NEW job.  He has been looking for something better than what he had!  He got a job as a High School Biology Teacher and is coaching football and wrestling in the same county that I teach in!  God has really blessed us in so many ways!

Let me tell you the story on how he got the job! He went for his screening interview at the county office. (have to interview at county before you can interview with principals) He went and meet with a lady that I bubble letter love!! She is the nicest person you will ever meet and is always there for teachers if you need her.  She interviewed him the DAY BEFORE our wedding.  When they found out his wedding was the next day.  They made him sit there while they called principals from three different schools that had openings.  The county office arranged all three schools to meet at one location that SAME day and had Brad go meet them and interview will all three school at the same time.  WOW, isn't that stressful for someone that had no idea what to do. (Brad told me that I didn't prepare him for that ha ha) He pulled it off amazingly, like always.  We got married the next day and set off for our honeymoon.  The County office lady emailed him several times while we were on the honeymoon and on the fourth of July she sent an email stating that one of the principals wanted to meet with him again when he got back.  We got back on Sunday and Brad emailed the principal.  She called him at 8:00am the next morning and asked him to come in at 12:00 that day.  He went to meet her and they spoke some more and he meet with the Athletic Director about coaching and they said they would make a decision by the end of the day.  The principal at the school called him at 2:00 and offered him the job! MIRACLES do happen! I am so proud of my husband for everything that he has done to get where he is! Now we are a teacher family :) kindergarten and high school teachers! He is still in shock because it happened so fast.  But it was a wonderful first day back from our honeymoon and the beginning of our married life together!  :)

Here are some pictures from our wedding.... :)
