Laundry Room Remodel :)

I have been telling myself for a year now that I need to redo my laundry room. I have been putting it off and finding other rooms to work on first. I finally told my self that if I found some cabinets I would start on it. Well I found those some cabinets at the Goodwill in Florida while I was on vacation. Yes, I had my husband haul both home on the back of the truck!! 

I was so excited to get started on my laundry room.

The first thing that came to mind was.....

After I took down those medal racks I started to paint it!

I painted the room Waterscape by Sherwin Williams.

Then, my husband was kind enough to help in sanding the cabinets and painting them.

(pretty nice wood cabinets for $29 at Goodwill)

 After the cabinets dried my husband went to work and started installing the cabinets in the laundry room. He also made me shelves and painted those to hang up! 

(I have a great husband, don't I?)

On the washer side, I put a cabinet and two shelves. On the dryer side, I put a cabinet, one shelf, and a rack to hang clothes. 

Then I started bring things back into the laundry room. My cabinets were filled and my baskets where placed on the shelves!

I am MUCH happier with my laundry room now! It is more organized and looks 100% better

Maybe I will spend more time doing laundry.

DIY: Burlap Wreath

One of my friends Carrie posted a wreath she made for her house. Can I just say I FELL IN LOVE with it.  So today I went out and bought all the materials to make this wreath.  I give Carrie all the credit for the idea.  I am going to show you how I made it because I know you will LOVE IT too!

 

Steps:

1. I went to Hobby Lobby and Michaels and bought the materials

At Hobby Lobby I bought the Vine Wreath, Burlap, Initial C

 At Michaels I bought the clip on bows

 2. I wrapped the burlap around the wreath. I did about one half of the wreath. Tuck the ends through the vines to make it stay tight. 

3. Attach the flowers. I loved that the flowers were clip on because it made it so much easier/faster

4. Paint the initial the color of your choice. I choose to paint it white.

5. Attach the letter with the burlap. I cut a long strip of burlap to attach it to and hang it with.

6. Hang it on your door

DIY: File Crate Seat for the Classroom

Seats for my classroom!

I have been wanting to make them but haven't found the time.  I have been seeing them all over pinterest. With the inspiration from Pre-K Pages,  I decided to try it since the plactic chairs I have in my room at the kitchen area are broken. Surprisingly, It did not take that long to make.  It took me around 10 minutes to do both seats!! I am so happy that I made them. Here is how I made them. 

I went shopping!!!

First, you have to get a piece of wood. I got mine from Lowes Hardware. I carried my crate in with me and the guy measured it and cut it for me! Wasn't that so nice? The guy said that I was like the fourth person this week that has came in with crate and asked for boards to be cut to fit. I guess I wasn't the only one that was making them for my classroom! (they must be popular) After I left Lowes Hardware I went to Walmart.  At Walmart I got the foam and fabric.  

 

After I got all my supplies I took the foam and cut it to fit on top of the board. The picture below shows one piece of foam cut. I actually cut two pieces of foam for one crate because I wanted my cushion to be more thicker.

After I cut the foam, I put the fabric out on the floor.  The fabric I got was actually a fabric shower curtain.  (I was too lazy to drive to hobby lobby to get fabric cut) My husband told me that I would be the only one to do such a thing.  I cut the fabric where it would be large enough to fold over the foam and the board. 

After you placed the foam and then the board on the fabric start pulling the fabric around the board and use a staple gun to staple it tight. 

After you have finished stapling the fabric then it should be ready to place in the crate.  It is as EASY as THAT!! YOU should definitely try it! I am super excited about this new chair for my classroom.  The kids will love it and I can store things inside it ;) I was going off the wall with excitement when I finished.  My husband thought I was a crazy teacher. 

Summer Working (cool stuff for classroom)

I have been busy, busy, busy!! I have been making, creating, printing, laminating, and cutting.  Here is some of things that I have been up too! Tell me what you think.  Hope you like it.  I am excited to use them in my room this year!!

I took a corn and green beans can and cleaned it after I cooked supper and decided to make me nice pencil holders for the classroom.  I first made one for unsharpened pencils and thought it was so cute that I had to make one for my group table. So I added my (new) name to it!

1. Get a can.

2. Scrape booking paper: Cute and glue/tape around the can

3. Ribbon: Tie ribbon around the can. I also taped it down so that it wouldn't slide.

4. Make a Label and glue to the front.

I kept seeing all these cute theme banners that everyone was making for this classroom and it made me want to make one with animal prints. I thought it turned out very nicely. Now, I just have to find a place to put it in my classroom. 

1. Cut paper into triangles (The size you desire) I free handed the first triangle and then traced it out for the rest of them. 

2. Ribbon: Glue the ribbon on top of the triangle pieces. 

3. Make sure that you leave extra ribbon on both sides so that you can tie it up.

CUTE Labels I found from a blog (I am sorry I can't remember who, let me know if it was you so I can give you credit)  I will be using this year for my sorting baskets in the room.  They will replace my old ones from last year.  These are going to match the theme of my room even better. It gets better every year!

Math Centers by Miss. Kindergarten that I have been printing, laminating, and cutting apart for the upcoming school year. I love them so far!

Popsicle Math: Students have to count the dots on the bottom of the popsicle and find the number to match to make the complete popsicle.

 Decompose/compose: Students have to count the ten sticks/ones to figure out how much is shown in the bucket.  They will place the matching shovel with the number on the bucket.

 Beach Ball Fun: Teen Number Practice.  Students will have to add a number to 10 and then find the correct beach ball with that number.

BOOKMARKS (can not remember who I got these from): 

I am going to give every child one of these bookmarks for their reading tubs and a couple in the reading center. 

 Aren't these the cutest alphabet letter cards.  They are all jungled out and match the theme :) I wish I could remember who's blog I got this off of to give them credit. It was a freebie and they are so cute!

I can not wait to start making somemore things for the classroom.  I am in the process of making a parent common core packet. (so they know what is excepted of their child throughout the year)

DIY Projects I have made!

While looking through Pinterest, I decided to attempt to make a wreath for my door.  I was very excited about this wreath.  It is in my favorite three colors (black, white, and pink) :)

Wreath

 The only materials that you need to make this wreath is:

Foam wreath

Ribbon of choice

Felt

Straight Pins and Straight Pins with pearls

Steps:

1. Pin the beginning of the ribbon to the foam wreath.

2. Start wrapping the ribbon around the circle.  I wrapped mine twice to make sure that I could not see through it. After you are finished wrapping it around pin the end down in both corners.

3. Grab the felt and cut out lots of circles.  It does not matter the size or if the circles are perfectly cut.

4. Fold the circle in half and then fold it again in half (should look like a triangle) Pin the folded point to the wreath. Fluff out the end to create the look of a flower.  Keep pinning more felt until you are happy with the look.

5. Take the pearl straight pins and randomly place them in the felt to give the look of the center of the flower.  This adds extra details. 

6. Cut ribbon to make a handle and use straight pins to pin in place.

7. Hang on door

Mail Holder for Fridge

I made this mail holder because I got tried of having mail all over the table and counter.  

Materials you need:

Cereal Box, Scrapebooking paper, and glue

1. Cut the cereal box so that you have an opening to place your mail

2. using scrapbooking paper to cover the outside and inside. 

3. Place on fridge.

Wedding Sign for Ring Bearer to Carry

I still have to drill holes in the corners to add the ribbon so that our ring bearer will be able to carry it. 

Here are the steps to making this sign.

Step 1:

Buy a board, I bought mine from Hobby Lobby, and paint it.  I painted mine white. 

Step 2:

I added damask boarder at the top and bottom of the board by using stickers I found at Hobby Lobby.

Step 3:

Start writing the message with paint.  I wrote mine out with pencil first.

Step 4: 

Add the flowers for details.

Step 5: 

Drill Holes in the corners to place Ribbon through so it can be carried. 

Wedding Sign for the Back of the Bride/Groom Chairs
